Cameroon – Rigobert Song: Former Lions Captain gives some disturbing revelations on his stroke case.

The former captain of the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon, Rigobert Song, who was a victim of a stroke that nearly cost him his life eight months ago reported that his case was  ”exceptional”

according to the opinion of his attending physician.

“My doctor tells me every time that my case is exceptional,” said the former captain of the Indomitable Lions, guest of the 5th edition of the African Football Night, held Saturday in Ouagadougou, the capital of Burkina Faso.

He explains that according to the practitioner ”out of 40 similar cases, thirty died and the remaining 10 bear the effects  of the disease ”. What makes “me a miracle my brother,” appreciates Rigobert Song in an interview with APA, on the sidelines of the ceremony.

A few hours before the meeting, the Joseph Issouffou Conombo municipal stadium of Ouagadougou reserved him a standing ovation, on his arrival to attend the gala match between a local selection of former Burkinabè international ex-legends of African football.

At the end of his long coma at the Hopital de la Pitié -Salpêtrière in Paris, the “old” lion is on foot. Without having a sequelae if not a slimming. He keeps invoking the chance to explain this “miracle“.

Song says he was sitting in front of the TV, at home,  in Yaounde when he felt “a big blow of fatigue“. “My luck is that I did not close the door of the house, I was waiting for a visitor. If I had closed it, we would not be here talking, “he said.

“If my door had been closed, it was over for me,” insists Rigobert Song, who says he fell on the side with my tongue coming out, the indomitable Lion remembers.

According to him, in a coma, he saw deceased members of his family shouting to him: “Rigobert, what do you do here, go back, your place is not here?” He then struggled with an “Incredible power” to return to “life“.

Song, who says he  “came back from far“, continues, however, his re-education in the Parisian hospital where he goes “twice” in the month.

“Today, I want to help the victims of stroke because I know what it is,” he says.

For the moment, Rigobert Song expresses his gratitude to “African athletes and to the world“.

” This communion of prayers of all the sportsmen of the world to begin with my country and Africa have done me good. I would like to renew my thanks to everyone for their solidarity around me, “concludes Rigobert Song.
