Gambia: Confrontations between pro-Jammeh soldiers and ECOWAS troops

Last Thursday, April 20, in Kanilai, Gambia, exchanges of fire erupted between soldiers of the ECOWAS mission and pro-Yahya Jammeh soldiers. The attack comes after they had opposed the soldiers from ECOWAS from searching weapons, a few weeks ago.

It should be noted that a few weeks ago, these same pro-Jammehs oldiers had carried out similar acts in The Gambia.

Early on Thursday, as reported by BBC/Africa, the soldiers sent to the Gambia by the Community institution had gone to Kanilai to search the home of Jammeh which led to the incidence.
The Gambian  military still once refused access to soldiers of the ECOWAS. Faced with this categorical refusal, Crossfire declared themselves and thus, two pro-Jammeh soldiers were affected. After they evacuated to the hospital, an investigation was opened in order to clarify this situation.
