Tokyo: the US aircraft carrier in the Western Pacific

The US aircraft carrier Carl Vinson and his escort will begin Sunday in the joint exercises with the Japanese Navy in the Western Pacific, announced the Japanese Ministry of Defense after days of uncertainty on the place where it is located.


The naval group is located in the region in a context of tension between the North Korea and the United States because of nuclear and ballistic programs North Koreans. The speculation on the imminence of a sixth nuclear test in North Korea.

The Carl Vinson is accompanied by two destroyers of a cruiser missile launcher and missile launchers. The exercises, involving two Japanese buildings, will last several days, according to the Japanese Ministry of Defense.

U.S. officials have repeated several times that "all options were on the table" facing the nuclear ambitions of North Korea, who dreams to develop an intercontinental ballistic missile capable of carrying a nuclear warhead to the American continent.
